Senator Obama won. For your info, I did NOT vote for him based on race. I voted for him because I believe McCain would simply have been another Bush. McCain lost - get used to it.

My lord - I just noticed this old thread...I think you were quite rude to the Obama supporter, but I'm sure you don't care what anybody thinks about you with your less-than-charitable post.

Obama meeting in Sparta -

I don't know who riled you , but that post was indeed factual, 30 years ago or not. That attitude, unfortunately, was a sign of the times and it was WRONG. Talk about needing change - well, change has taken place and in a positive way. Back then, race issues needed to be addressed and the outcome was a huge improvement. And no, I'm not black, just a person who cares about everybody and hopes to live long enough to truly witness Equal Rights for All. Hope you have a good day.

re Obama meeting in Sparta - You lost; obviously most voters felt as I do - I believe we at can at least feel hopeful regarding some positive and productive changes with Obama; McCain would only be another Bush - and you know where that got us. Would you really want the next 4 or 8 years of that type of leadership? And as for Lake Mohawk and past prejudices, I believe the truth should be told no matter how many years ago it happened. If you're not bi-racial like I am, you probably can't imagine the deep hurt that comes with rejection due to racial barriers; I'm certainly not ashamed of my ancestry but I usually don't mention being a "mix" until I think I am speaking to a person who is open-minded and fair. You do not seem to be racist. And truly, I did not vote for Obama because of HIS race whether you believe that or not. I had voted for Bush because I liked and respected his father; but the two are so very different. At any rate, that's behind us now and I hope you are as willing as I am to support our Commander-in-Chief so that we can get our great Nation back on its feet again. No President can "fix" this mess quickly so I don't think anyone should expect miracles. Have a good day.

Oh, one more thing. I hope I did not offend you by not stating right from the start that I'm bi-racial; it's just that a man in my position unfortunately has to try to determine how the other person will react, and on an anonymous forum that's difficult to do at times. In person, it's another story.

Who could actually "fix" this mess we've gotten into and how to do it? Suggestions? We have to band to together and stop tearing each other apart. You could become president; you sound intelligent so let's quit the useless bickering and try to act in a more positive manner. I would seriously consider you and any constructive ideas you may come up with. Consider me as your "follower" and let's get the show on the road. Just please tell me you're not 85 years old!

time to view this stuff only to see how "right" everyone thinks
they are. The Herald has a lot to offer and in my opinion doesn't
need this feature. Everybody's an expert these days and there are a
lot of shrink-wannabes out there. How boring. Carry on.

Oh, come on, I can change my mind and it was not my intention to get anyone riled. You read something every single day for a month or so and to me that's a bit of a "while". Please - let us try to work together. We don't even know each other and I have zero intentions of bickering with you as you're probably a nice person in real life. You seem rather intelligent and I respect that. I know I can sound "flip" and I apologize for that. I write a lot of satire, and sometimes I keep going when I should not. Just habit, that's all. I wish you well. Now - how can we help to improve our dear nation's situation? Let me know and I'll be happy to follow suit.
