What is going on with the recreation department in Andover Twsp? Tax payers money where is it going to? NOT to our children. We have to travel out of town/county to join any kind of year round baseball/softball team. The fields in town are junk. The recreation department and town committee do nothing for the children of Andover Twsp.

Agreed

It's been like this for as long as I can remember.
It's not just baseball/softball. It's soccer among other
things, too. I guess there's no money for a "real"
Recreation Dept. because it's being spent on frivilous things such as
idiotic lawsuits, skydivers, top of the line health benefits for
committeemen, etc., etc.

What about the sport of Lacrosse.

Andover/Green/Newton will be last in the door to get on board with a
high school program. Sussex Co. is probably the last County to realize
that this is both a popular sport for boys and girls alike and that there
is great interest in it in this area. Watch how many cross over from
baseball to play lacrosse. Its fast paced, exciting, and interesting!!

Town Council Committee members will make a difference if we want improvement, more attention to the condition of our fields, the future of how sports and education programs are managed and how money is spent? Our council is very capable and can do good things. How can your concerns forward? Not an easy thing to do in local politics.

Town members need to get involved, speak up and offer to help these programs out.

as far as REC teams, its all politics , in Newton the NJAL is a disgrace, raising the price of baseball for kids to 90 dollars!
look at the dilapidated Memory Park we have to play in, recycled uniforms, not for nothing but Newton isnt a rich community, not many parents in this economy can afford 90 dollars per kid to join a sport. Of course no child is left out? how many kids get to play with no fee? one case I know of a friend whose son did get to play allstars with no additonal payment, but the coach told the other parents and the mother was critisized by other parents when her son needed to miss a 4th of July game! very sad situation FOR ALL ! So this child will likely never play again!

That's a shame, as a community we have to do what we need to ensure that the kids are never left out of things because of a parent's inability and that information should remain private - shame on the coach.
