Seat Lottery

Season ticket holders, Bob and LaVeta Moeller of Quincy, pick out their new seating arrangements during a seat lottery held Monday evening at Blue Devil Gym. New bleachers have been installed resulting in the loss of several seats because of added aisles and railings. The Moeller’s have held season tickets each year since the 1947-48 Blue Devil basketball season. (H-W Photo/Steve Bohnstedt)
Vaccination Line

People waiting for an H1N1 influenza vaccine Tuesday afternoon at the Adams County Health Department form a line extending from the Broadway entrance, south to Sixth Street, and around the corner and across the entire block of Vermont. Julie Shepard, director of health protection, said between 1,500 and 1,600 doses of the injectable vaccine were delivered from 3 to 8:30 p.m., close to 300 vaccines an hour. Shepard isn’t sure when the next shipment of H1N1 vaccine will arrive but emphasizes that the shots are not being given on a walk-in basis. A clinic will be scheduled as soon as a new shipment is received. For updates, including who’s eligible for the vaccines, call the Adams County flu hotline at (217) 277-5900. Starting today, the hotline will go from an automated service to being manned by registered nurses 24 hours a day. In addition to providing information about H1N1 vaccination clinics, the hotline will serve as a place for people to seek advice about when it’s necessary to seek medical treatment if showing signs of flu. All the World’s a Stage

Sometimes the best pictures are never seen in the paper. An example of that would be the press conference I covered this morning in Washington Park. State Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) was in Quincy to announce his candidacy for governor. After he finished, his daughters Emma and Ava took over the stage, batting the helium balloons and dancing to the music of the band that was playing. I was taking some file shots of Dillard as he met with those in attendance when I looked up and saw Emma poking one of the balloons. I like the picture, but she’s not the one running for governor.
