Modifed driver Michael Long and bomber/hobby stock ace Bill Genenbacher (now a late model hotshoe) are setting an early pace in the first day of the first-round of King of the Ring online voting. This week’s matchup involves six of the 11 two-time track champs.

The top two vote-getters among Long, Genenbacher, Jeff Klingele, Hal Roach, Steven DeLonjay and Junior Tuggle will advance to the semifinals. Long has 51.3 percent of the early vote at this writing (6:10 p.m. Monday).

First-round voting for this group ends Sunday night.

On tap next week will be another group of two-time track champions: Lonnie Carter, Tony Dunker, Jim Gillenwater, Greg Uppinghouse and Gary Dreyer. The top two from this group also advance to the semifinals.

Awaiting in the semifinals are three- and four-time track champions Lonnie Bailey, Eddie Dieker, Terry Gallaher, Larry Larson, Steve Carlin and Sam Burgtorf.

The top three from the semifinals will move on to the King of the Ring finals where 14-time champ Mark Burgtorf, 13-time title-winner Hank DeLonjay and nine-time champion Steve Fraise reside.
